College Counseling (All ages)
The counselor will present an overview of the College Process, including an introduction to the university system in California and nationally, academic planning for the middle and high school student, test planning for the national tests such as SAT and ACT, and a review of both the application and financial aid process. Financing your College Education - (Recommended for juniors, seniors, and community college students)
This is a two-part (A & B) workshop. In Part A, students are introduced to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and learn about their Student Aid Report (SAR), federal grant and loan programs, opportunities for state and university aid, scholarships, private loan sources, and methods to actually reduce college expenses. In Part B, students begin the process by completing the FAFSA and submitting the information to their college of choice. Choosing a College (Recommended for juniors, seniors, and community college students)
This workshop leads students through the process of choosing a college. Students are taught how to research schools by major, location, admissions criteria and acceptance rates in order to create a list of schools to apply to. Students set short and long term academic goals to guide them through the selection process. College Application Process (Recommended for seniors and community college students)
The counselor will facilitate a hands-on workshop to help students complete their college applications to community colleges, CSUs, UCs and private colleges. Other topics include senior time-line, letters of recommendations and senior academic choices.
